The last clinging tendrils of her nightmare disappeared. There was no room for fear or worry, not when she was filled with Jake.

He stilled deep inside of her and brushed a lock of hair off her forehead. His eyes were dark in the moonlight, but his gaze was as intense as ever.

“You okay?” he asked.

She was so okay it scared her. A person wasn’t supposed to fall this hard, this fast. In answer, she lifted her head and brushed her lips over his.

Jake rested on his forearms, framing her face with his large hands. He sucked her bottom lip into his mouth as he started to move.

Jake’s love-making was as single-minded as everything else about him. His thrusts were long and even. He slowly built her body up until she was scraping her nails down his back in frustration.

She wrapped her legs around his thighs, trying to increase the pace.

Jake merely chuckled and nuzzled her throat.

“Faster,” she said, breathless.

“Not yet.” He cut off her protest with another slow, drugging kiss. When they broke apart, she was light-headed.

“Jake.” She arched her back, trying to get impossibly closer. He felt like a part of her, one she hadn’t even known she’d been missing. Sweat dampened his chest, and she licked a bead from his skin. “Please.”

He muttered a curse. Rising higher on his knees, Jake drove into her. His cock stretched her core, and there was a delicious pinch each time he bottomed out. She’d never had sex like this before, not with a man who seemed to know just what her body craved.

His pants mingled with her whimpers. Her bed frame slapped against the wall. Tingles started at the base of her spine and spread through her body, puckering her nipples and making her sheath grip at his length.

“That’s it, sweetheart.” He took the back of her knee and opened her farther. His next stroke had her mewling. “Come for me.”

He hammered into her, faster, harder, until her vision blurred and her mind went white with pleasure. She cried out as wave after wave of ecstasy cascaded through her body.

Jake’s pace never faltered. He surged past her grasping muscles, extending her pleasure as he chased his own release. With a husky growl, he planted himself deep inside and rolled his hips as he came.

Spurts of liquid heat filled her, and she pulled him close, sighing with contentment. That was something else they’d done out of order, having sex first then telling him she was on birth control later, but she couldn’t regret their impulsiveness. She loved feeling him skin to skin, and she trusted him implicitly to keep her safe.

Jake rolled to his side, pulling her with him so they were chest to chest. His heavy breathing gusted across her cheek as their bodies cooled.

This was the part where she should start freaking out. She’d thrown all her rules out and given herself, heart and soul, to a man who could disappear on a moment’s notice.

She trailed her fingers through the springy curls on his chest.
